    Hi guys,

just wanted to show a few pics of my new "vintage" dress sporran...found at Ebay. It's very well made.

    That's lovely!

Those sorts of things are dodgy for us here, because sealskin items are subject to being confiscated by US Customs.

There is a VERY nice vintage day sporran with seal front on Ebay now... I would love to have it, and the price is right, but I'm afraid of it being seized.

    Hej Tom,

it's the same here. At least new seal skin may not be sold. If you have prove of age, it won't be a problem.
On the other hand, there are no regular customs checks in the inner european market.

    Very nice piece, enjoy.

BTW: will you be at one of the whisky fairs (Rüsselsheim or Hofheim)?

That is beautiful, indeed. I am envious. It would look so nice with my sealskin hat. But I'm not sure my sealskin hat would look nice with a kilt.

Great looking vintage sporran. Really like the color of the pelt. Seems to be harder to find lighter seal skins.

    Congratulations on a lovely buy!

A few years ago I lucked out and got a F*r sporran for my wee one which turned out to be... THE fur, and made it through customs un-confiscated, possibly because it was made pre-ban (1950s).

Now that I'm in business as a maker and exporter I obviously must be more careful about these things.

So my wee one is more grandly sporran-d than his pap (although he still wants an angora and brass sporran- the little monster)

Now, now, no name calling! You are supposed to point out that he obviously inherited his good taste from his pap!
