Navy Pea Coat
Has anyone altered a pea coat to go with a kilt and if so do you have pictures?
thanks,

Having owned a pea coat I think it is unlikely that it could be altered to be a kilt jacket. Too heavy.

No need to alter it; just wear it as is. It's a jacket to keep you warm, for Pete's sake!

Since cutting the length down would be the main concern, perhaps since it is meant to be worn closed, it could be cut high like an Ike Jacket. I have never done such a thing and am only guessing here, but it might work.

It's intended as outerwear.
It's short enough that it won't interfere with the pleats.
I'd leave it alone.

After looking at a few peacoats on the internet, it looks like they're cut to be about an inch/inch and a half longer than the tip of the thumb. Might cover the sporran when buttoned but should be okay.
Best

I have a surplus pea coat. I never would have thought about wearing it with a kilt. Seems like a good idea.
Since it's double breasted, I don't think it would look right if you shorten it, but since there are no buttons at the bottom, it might not even interfere with getting into the sporran.

One can only assume that the pea coat is being worn to keep warm. Does it really matter if the coat covers the sporran?
