New Ferguson Britt sporran in progress
I have for a long time been a fan of the simple brown leather military sporran, such as this one shown (made by L&M).

I think that simple and understated can be just the thing for many different occasions. This sporran certainly fits the bill.
And I had one just like this for a while. It was a perfectly fine sporran. Nothing really wrong with it. Except for one thing...
It wasn't a Ferguson Britt sporran. And I really like my Ferguson Britt sporrans. I admit it. I'm addicted. But when you have a favorite sporran maker, what do you do?
I found myself not wearing this otherwise fine sporran very often, and when I did, I always ended up wishing I had on one of my Ferguson Britt sporrans. Why? I like the quality. I like the softness of the leather. And I like knowing that I am wearing something that was truly hand crafted by an individual artist.
Again, there was nothing really at all wrong with the sporran I had. But it wasn't a Ferguson Britt.
So what else was I to do? I asked Ferguson Britt to create a sporran for me that was of the same design and style as the typical plain brown leather military day sporran as pictured above. The only difference being that it would use the same high quality deer and elk hide, and be of the same high quality construction, as any other Ferguson Britt sporran.
Not that hard to do, I was assured. All he would have to do would be to begin with one of his more "standard" sporran designs, with a flap, like this one:

Remove all the braid and tassels. Remove the button and add the brass knob for a closure. Modify the shape of the flap a bit. I had him add a welt to outline the shape and give it a bit of detail. Oh, and there will be a hidden inner pocket, as well.
He's working on it for me currently. I'm excited about it coming and know already it will get a lot of wear. As soon as I have it, rest assured I will post pictures.
One thing everyone here can help me with -- although he's making this sporran especially for me, he has no problem with me adding it to the regular line of Ferguson Britt sporrans. So, the question is, what do we call it? He likes to name his sporran designs after Scottish place names. Any suggestions?

I really like Fort William, though Huntly has a nice ring to it, as well...

I can't get my head around a name for the new sporran because I'm totally in LOVE with the tassled FB shown above. There's been many an idle evening when I almost bought one, but thought to myself, "Do I REALLY need this? Now?" I feel that soon I may lose my power to resist the temptation. Aargh! Help!

Ack. This guy's gonna drive me broke! Oh, wait- I'm already broke... Never mind.
I concur, however, "Fort William" and "Huntly" are both apt titles, though I would point out that Lamar tends to use more Gaelic place names... at any rate, Lamar's sporrans are the bomb, baby! And worth every penny, fo shizzle on the drizzle.
