New Jackets and my 100th Post!
As the 11th was my birthday, and shipping from across the pond takes a while, I got these super neat surplus jackets for my fabulous fifteenth.
Thankfully, they came much sooner than expected -- they told us I'd have them by November!
First up, is the bush tunic. A product of Briggs Jones and Gibson LTD. I don't know when this was made, but I estimate somewhere in the 1980s/1990s. It says it's machine washable, so one would only assume it's of the latter 20th century!
IMG_6673.jpgIMG_6677.jpg Would any of you button fanatics mind lending a hand in IDing these buttons? They are rather curious. There's a crown over a squiggly thing, above a very small thistle.
IMG_6678.jpgIMG_6679.jpg On my right epaulette, there appears to be something stamped on in red ink. I cannot decipher what exactly it says, or let alone, means.
Nextly, my favourite thing -- my "Tunes of Glory" era battle dress blouse... err, jacket. Yes. Battle jacket. Made by "Milford" of Belfast in 1950. (Huzzah! At long last, the war is over!)

I think they're both pretty neat. The bush tunic will need some correct pressing, and some growing into, but it's a rather neat addition to my ever-growing collection. ith:

Not a thistle but a grenade on the buttons, which look to be tunic buttons from the uniform of The Grenadier Guards, the senior regiment of the Guards Division. Not sure how they got on your tunic though. The squiggly things are the letters ER and ER mirrored (for Elizabeth Regina).

The "ink stamp" appears to be where a rank badge such as a crown or "pip" was removed. My guess is that this jacket belonged to a junior officer.

I also noticed that the front of the jacket is cut away and the label is marked "Scottish Regiments". I have a couple of bush jackets and none are cut away like this one.
In Canada, we briefly experimented with a uniform called Khaki Drill in the 50s / early 60s before dropping it. This jacket looks like an early-60s highland version.
The grenade on the buttons could also mean Guards. The mirrored Royal Cipher is also typical of the Guards. I would therefore hazard a guess that this is a khaki drill jacket from a Scottish Guards junior officer from the early 60s.
Someone with more knowledge of the UK Scottish regiments could likely point you in the right direction.
