New sporran
Today I received the dark brown leather sporran and antler sgian dubh from leathersporran.co.uk
I had this sporran and sgian dubh on my Christmas wish list, but I had to order them myself after Christmas
Both are lovely!
The sporran is made of thick leather, has lots of space and it's very well made. The tassels and the chain will drum like crazy
It came with a chain...I already replaced it with a dark brown strap.
The hand made sgian dubh is made of red deer antler, a small pewter thistle inlay. The back of the handle is made of rosewood and it has an ebony trim. The blade has a chrome finish. It looks sturdy and very nice.
I finally found out how to turn off the dreadful flashlight on my camera...colours are much better without :-D

Looks very nice, reminds me that I must get a new sporran - perhaps I will put it on my Christmas List and see what happens!

That is a fabulous looking sporran, I'm going to check that one out and see if it comes in black.

I've always liked the design of their sporrans, simple and classic. The peg and chain closure makes it a bit unique from others. I'll have to put one on my want list.

Robin,
You mentioned the tassels drumming. Is that something you look for in a sporran? It is very good looking by the way.

That is a very interesting way of securing the top flap of the sporran down. I've nerver seen a design like that. The sgian dubh is exceptional - truely a work of art. The top of the handle seems quite large, so I was wondering about comfort after wearing it in your hose for a period of time.
I know some folks don't like the drumming sound of the tassels and fasten them down with BlueTac or rolled up scotch tape. Other folks have said the like the drumming sound. It starts to get to me after awhile, so I use the scotch tape fastening method.
Great picture, BTW, it gives an excellent shot of the details.

A small spot of rubber cement under each tassel works as well, plus is easily removed.

It's a very handsome sporran. I like the closure pin.

That is a very nice sporran. somebody else had posted a pic of one that closed like this. I assume it was from the same maker. That will be much easier to open and clos than the loop and know on my brown sporran.
