    Non traditional sgian dubhs

I have never seen a sgian dubh in person so I am having a hard time picturing scale here. But I have a couple of ideas for a possible dubh replacement (atleast until I get the forge up and running). One is a "little" knife offered by himalayan imports at 7.5" and 3oz. It has either a deer antler or water buffalo horn handle and a water buffalo leather covered sheath (wood core). This is a utilitarian knife. No engraving (except the makers mark which the smiths that make these don't understand why we americans want makers marks) and some translation of H.I. for the company logo.

Another one is an absolutly tiny khukuri called a kangas katne, which literally means paper cutter. At 6 inches I really can't see this being as much use as either a 9 inch really small khukuri (as opposed to tiny) or the other one listed above.

    The first knife
    The kangas katne
And the ~9incher on the far right and top (two different models but size is similar enough)
They also have their own version of a puukko at 6 inches and around 6oz.

All of these sizes are overall length, not blade length and all of the blades have a lifetime warrenty, no questions asked on the blade (one model has a break/bend one get two free warrenty) and a very long warrenty on the handles. I'm not sure exactly what the handle warrenty is but I am pretty sure it is measured in decades. The pointed chapes can be rounded, the frogs on all the sheaths can be removed, and all the blades are made of truck leafsprings, forged, and heat treated as only khukuris are (differentialy hardened by pouring water, not dipping, to around 58 hrc at the edge and 52(?) at the spine).

So finally getting ot my point: Would any of these be a suitable sgian dubh or are the all too large?
