Patrol Jacket??
Here's yet another strange Ebay listing.
The seller says it's a Seaforth Highlanders Blue Patrol Jacket.
As you can see it bears no resemblance to that sort of jacket:

Rather, it's a shell jacket. Shell jackets were extremely popular in the mid-19th century and were one of a number of unofficial (or semi-official) styles popular with officers.
Here's a group of Late Victorian officers of The Seaforth Highlanders.
The seated officer on the left, and the standing officer 2nd right, are wearing shell jackets. Several others are wearing the Blue Patrol jacket. (BTW note that neither style is worn with kilts.)
Of interest is that the man to the left of the Commanding Officer (centre) is in Levee Dress. The man to the left of him appears to be wearing an undress frock.

this items looks as a shell jacket of course, but Scottish shell jackets were either red or white... but never blue!!
Moreover it looks like US army shell jacket but with original Seaforth buttons...

I don't think its very old at all, as even the seller implies to side-step the vintage. Seaforth buttons are not difficult to acquire.

I was thinking the same thing at first glance.

My guess here is that its is someone's attempt at a Confederate Import shell jacket that has had different buttons put on. The late war jackets made by Peter Tait in Ireland were much more blue than grey.
