    Police fancy sporran chain?

So, I found this metal belt on eBay. The description says it's 73 inches long. I figure, with a small amount of tweaking and/or modding, it would make a nice fancy sporran chain (or two). I'm interested in what you guys think.

Each to their own but it's not to my taste.

    Chain thoughts

    Make your "look" your own!

The links may cause wear on the kilt, hard to tell from the pictures... check to make certain there are no parts to catch on the fabric. ( might need to put a radius on edges)

If you do buy it, enjoy it!

Be very careful what your doing here as those shields [what people call badges] are NYPD. Several years ago the City of New York went to court and got certain items copyrighted; as people were making all kinds of articles for sale using various pieces of police paraphernalia. Patches are no problem and you can still get shirts, mugs etc. for personal use. However anything with the NYC emblem on or in it shields, buttons etc. are copyright protected.

The look would be something like the Ian Grant sets which include a matching ornate sporran chain.

But the Ian Grant chains are scaled to the size appropriate for a sporran.

That NYPD belt, with doubled chains, is about twice as wide as any sporran chain.

I think it would look strange, but I suppose the only way to find out is to try it.

About NYPD items, offtopic but an interesting photo taken at a New Years Day parade in England.

These are fully authentic NYPD cars with working lights being driven by Englishmen dressed in full NYPD uniforms.

It's not a film being shot, but English enthusiasts of US police vehicles and uniforms who own the vehicles (some drive them as their daily commute cars)

I'm a retired police officer/K-9 handler so, short of using my old Sergeant's badge as a kilt pin, I was thinking of making a fancy sporran chain as a nod to my former profession. I would, of course, need to replace the leather portions to tone down the look. The shield links caught my eye though. Maybe I'll just use my old duty rig (Sam Browne) as a kilt belt instead.
