    Possible Livery Cockade

    I found this while searching the internet. I know it is more of a fashion item but the horns like cockade caught my attention. Here they used black and red but I think this might make an interesting livery cockade. What does the rabble think?

    Re: Possible Livery Cockade

    It is a rather interesting look, but honestly, I do not care for it. I think it would look too much like 'costume fashion' in my opinion. For a livery cockade, I think a simple, understated design is always best. The bit of 'flash,' of course, would come from the livery colours themselves.

    Cheers,

    True. It just caught my interest. I am working on red bonnet conversion right now so I was surfing for some images and came across this.

    I kind of like it, actually. With a smaller crest badge, and maybe if one had horns or a bull as a crest, I think it would be quite fitting!

    I had a red beret in my closet and after ,yesterday, receiving and reading my copy of The Kilt and How To Wear It, I have decided to convert it to a balmoral bonnet. The author states that red bonnets were popular in Scotland at one point. I figure what the heck it might look good!

    I would be interested to see the horns on a normal hat - Balmoral or Glengarry. I think that there could be 4 ways of doing it -

    ((

    ))

    )(

    ()

    I can't picture how each one would look, but would be interested in seeing a mock-up.

    Regards

    Chas

    Thank you Thomas. I may try my hand at this if I get time this weekend.

    I am currently working on another sporran commission so we will see.
