Question about wearing a sgian dubh
I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I notice that if I am wearing a sgian dubh all day it leaves indents in my leg.
I have tried to lossen of the flash on that side but it still cuts into my leg, I was wondering if anyone else found this problem, and if there is anyway of dealing with it using the standard elastic flashes?
Maybe I should just order some of the flashes Matt has, but my credit card needs to recover first.
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Mine does the same thing, so I don't think you're alone with this problem.

IF I wear one (I have a cheapie so I don't wear it often) it does the same thing.

Well I guess I will either grin and bear it or leave it at home with my other knifes, but I just got a new daywear antler horn that I just love, so I will most likely try to live with it. Thanks for your thoughts.

Same here. Of course wearing anything pressed tightly to your leg for hours will leave an indentation, but I have a brown Glenurquhart that also leaves a nice neat brown imprint of the handle on my leg. A little soap and water and it's gone, so it's no big deal.

Depending on how bad the problem is (if it, say, causes chafing), you could always cut out a small piece of moleskin to stick to the offending part of the dagger.

Honestly I rarely wear one anymore except for full dress. I am in enough places that have a problem with it it's not worth the trouble. Also unless I'm in full dress I usually have a more useful tool like a leatherman with me anyway.

Even when I only put a pen in there (when in my scouting knee socks, not my kilt hose) I get indents... I think it comes with having large calves!

Unless you wear it all the time, the indentation should fill itself out after a few hours. The tops of my workboots cause an indentation around my calfs that goes away during my days off. It does look kinda wierd though, while it's there.

I also find wearing a sgian dhu uncomfortable. I only ever wear mine with my Cunningham kilt a few times a year for a very special occasion.
