    Red kilt hose

Does anyone know where I could get red kilt hose?

I know the Scottish Tartan Muesum sells some for $48.00, but that's a bit rich for my blood. Any other sources?

    Thanks in advance.

Heck, since I'm asking, what about yellow flashes (again, other than the Muesum Gift Shop).

Red hose are difficult to find, as you've probably noticed. The STM has a good price compared to what I paid. I bought mine before I knew about STM.

Not only are the museum's prices very reasonable, they also go to support a worthy cause. I like knowing that I am supporting the STM and its programs when I make a purchase from the gift shop.

Yep, I couldn't agree more. I love when I'm able to buy something over there.

You could check out Hamilton Dry Goods, they are not the same quality as the Lewis hose from the STM but they do have red hose at a good price

    general use kilt socks

Check out Twin City Soccer socks out if you want a good pair of general use kilt socks for when you are wearing your hiking boots or for the highland games, just look at all the color available. I bought mine for $6.50.

Buy white kilt hose and dye them red.

ebay vendor northofstandrews.co.uk has standard grade red wool/acrylic/nylon/spandex kilt hose in a couple different size ranges for just under 5gbp (about $10) and another 3gbp (6 bucks or so) for shipping to the US. These are definitely not in the same league as the lewis hose at STM but should do for the occasional use. If you anticipate heavy use go with the higher quality.

You don't mention what kilt you're wearing it with. If its a cheap kilt you might be able to make red soccer sox work.

If its a fancy or hand sewn kilt you just can't lose with the red Lewis kilt hose from STM. Yes, the initial outlay is more, but the long term value is better than any other kilt hose investment. I didn't buy the ten (or more?) pair I already own because I wanted to spend extra money. I bought them be cause they fit better (they're shaped like regular sox, not just a tube) and they wash up easily. I hand wash so can't speak to the machine wash claim.

Here's my red Lewis kilt hose with my Cameron Black and Red hand sewn from Kathy Lare.

Guess my suggestion is that you find a way to look at a pair before you decide they're too expensive.

Thanks you guys, knew you'd come through with some suggestions.

The STM is a great place to get stuff, and I'm probably going to get a pair of hose from there for my Watson kilt. But the red hose are for an $80 Stillwater Black Stewart Standard. Somehow paying almost as much for the hose as the kilt feels strange. No question about the quality of the STM hose.

I'll check out the other suggested sites later today.
