Small Foot Socks
I'm looking for some inexpensive socks for my size small 7˝ feet to wear with my kilt. Sock Dreams, among other places, advertises Diamond Ribbed Knee High Socks as good for the job, but offer a pretty wide range of foot sizes for them, from men's 6-10, and claim that smaller feet can shrink them up "just a bit". I like the fact that they are cotton, but am sceptical about their ability to actually fit me.
Has anyone with small feet been successful with this practice on these socks?
Can anyone offer a recommendation that will get me out of the one pair of sweaty, acrylic socks I've been wearing?
X

You might try these: http://stores.channeladvisor.com/wbsocks/Kilt%20Hose/
They're cheap and I know lots of folks on the forum have purchased them. I've got a couple of pair that are not bad for the money (bottle green and lovat green), though I definitely prefer piper hose. Mind that you don't dry them, or they'll shrink terribly.

Hey X,
Have you considered, now don't hate me, womens shooting socks? They are the same high quality as the mens but in smaller sizes, albeit sometimes in some less than macho colors. However, I have seen plenty in standard colors as well.
I will PM you a list of sock suppliers that I have(in my obsessive shopping way) been collecting.
If you weren't aware, searching for "shooting socks" on the net results in far more hits than "kilt hose" or "kilt socks"
Regards,
Brooke

I also have small feet...usually end up with 7 or 7.5, which means too large for "small" and too small for "medium".
I have never, ever had any success with cotton socks shrinking, or fitting in general, unless they are actually the right size in the first place...or a small will stretch without looking strange or wearing thin.
IIWY...to get out of the socks you have now...get a wool sock in a medium shoe size, and shrink the foot. I did this with my socks, and it worked out great.

Xman,
I wear a size 7 (US shoe size) and have two pairs of the Diamond Ribbed Knee High Socks from Sock Dreams. They fit me well right out of the box.
Although the Sock Dreams website states they will fit up to a size 10, I would be surprised if the socks fit on feet larger than a size 9. The top portion of the socks fit my relatively thin calves, but there isn't enough room for large calves.

I'll echo billmcc's statement. My shoe size is actually somewhere between size 6.5 and 7 (often size 7 shoes feel too big for me). I bought two pairs of the Sock Dreams diamond ribbed knee-highs, and they fit great. They almost border on being loose around my leg, but that's because I have skinny legs. The foot part, though, fit perfectly.
I wear them to the office as dress socks when I'm in pants (with garters/flashes under my pants!), as well as with my kilt. I really like them because they fit so well, breathe so well, and are just plain comfortable.
I'm going to order a couple more pair in the near future to phase out some of my other dress socks while simultaneously increasing my potential kilt hose inventory.

I... I'm overwhelmed with happiness... so many hose, so many colors...
Thank you for pointing this out.
