Sporran position + hose and flash colors?

I did some searching and did not see anything stating proper sporran position.

I got my new L&M hunting sporran (my first sporran!) tonight and tried it on.

Does my sporran look correctly positioned? (Ignore my shoes and socks! And yes, my kilt is riding a bit low.)

ETA: I am all ears for hose and flash color suggestions!

Looks about right to me. A good guideline is that you should be able to put your hands into the bottom of the sporran and that it also provides "propriety insurance."

Congrats, L&M makes some nice kit. I hope you're waiting on some hose and flashes?

Looks just fine to me. You could have it a liiiiitle lower, but it's personal preference.
The rule of thumb tends to be that the sporran should be a hand's breadth below the belt buckle, but that changes depending on how tall you are!

Well being a newb I ordered a natural colored hoses and matching tartan flashes (not knowing any better).

What would be better a color combination for the hose and flashes?

I usually wear my sporran right there. Sometimes I swing it round to the drummer's position and sometimes I even wear it over one thigh which I call the rogue's position.

I used to wear my sporran just like you are. Now, with my loss of weight, I tend to wear it lower.

    Best,

Friend of mine in the Scots Guards told me that they were instructed to wear it low enough so as to cover their bits in case of un-gentlemanly attack....

Nothing wrong with natural colored hose and matching flashes.

    It looks just right.
The rule of thumb I always heard was a hands breadth below the navel or
no more than 2" below the belt buckle.
