Sporran strap/belt with hooks
Hello, I am looking to switch from a sporran chain to a strap ( I personally like the look better). I have a few sporrans that do not have a place to pass a belt through, just places to hook the chains to. Has anyone ever seen a 2 piece all leather belt that uses hooks? Thanks for any help you can give.

There are two style of strap clips usually found.
On the bottom are the more common spring style.
On top are what are called "lobster claw" clips.

The lobster claw style are what were used on the strap I once offered with my "Carry-All Sporran".

They were made for me by L&M Highland Outfitters, Nova Scotia. While the company has changed hands and inventory perhaps they would be willing to make one for you. It can't hurt to ask.
If they say no, take this photo with you to almost any belt shop or leather worker and I'm sure one could be made without breaking the bank.

I had a strap that came with the simpler clips, and swapped them out for "lobster claws" which I bought at Michael's Craft Store. Cheap, easy, and less likely to scratch the twill of the kilt.

Look at Wyvern Leatherworks => https://www.wyvernleatherworks.com/s...rran_belt.html
I have a brown one for my day sporran and a black one for my goat hair sporran - very nice leatherwork with lobster claw clips.

Here's another to consider. It comes in a wide variety of lengths. It looks quite sturdy, to be sure.

I like that more than the one that I recommended, the one that I was considering.
So much so that I bought one. Good recommending there, neighbor!

I'm surprised that people are making sporrans that don't follow the way they've always been made, along these lines, with a belt loop. When you use a chain strap you use that little adapter thing, a short piece of leather with two D-rings.

Are there new sporran makers that are only familiar with chain straps?
