    Sporrans....

    Hey guys,
Could someone point me in the direction of a low priced sporran? I'm trying to get all set up for my first kilt and keep the price tag as low as possible so I don't hear too many objections from the wife:rolleyes: I remember someone mentioning something in a different thread but I can't for the life of me find it or remember it.

Buzz Kidder makes a line of reasonably low cost practical sporrans. The Scottish tartans Museum and USA Kilts are two of the dealers that sell them.

What are you looking for, a plain black leather one? A versatile one that will carry a lot, or just the cheapest you can find?

I would check out the Buzz Kidder Day Sporrans

    USA kilts
    Buzz Kidder
    Stillwater

    all carry them.

If you buy a cheaper sporran you are giving up quality and will regret it later.

Basically for now I just want something cheap. But I'm not going to buy a piece of junk either. I guess I'm looking for around $30-40...but we'll see. Personally, I'd spend more...but...

I would suggest checking out the ones at www.scottishkilts.net than. You can find a few good ones in the $40ish range. I know I will get slack for this.....Buzz Kidder sporrans seem to get a lot of good feedback, but the since seeing one in person, I have to say i wasn't impressed. That's just me though. I find the shape a bit odd.

The Buzz Kidders are very utilitarian but the leather is thick, you wont get the drumming quite as much as with the more rigid leather sporrans and they will see you thru many different out fits. I love both of mine. It would be nice if there was a satin insert for the BK's though.

Here is a shot of my black BK. I have the same one in brown which is actually my favorite right now.

What would look good with this tartan? A brown one or black one?

I'd say brown, but to be really different get a camo one.
