    Suggestions

    Hello all,

As far as hose go, what colors would anyone suggest for the Hamilton modern tartan with a medium/light charcoal grey jacket? All I ask is, no cream & no red. I was thinking navy blue would work well but other than that I'm stumped.

I find I can get the most mileage out of Lovat Blue or Lovat Green. I think you should start there.

I've found that it's best to either go with a colour that doesn't appear much in your kilt (such as a very narrow stripe), or to wear hose of a colour not found in the kilt.

If you were, for example, to wear lovat blue hose with a Hamilton Modern kilt, some folks might think you were trying to match the blue in the kilt with the hose or they will simply look odd together. Lovat green, yellow, charcoal, etc., on the other hand, can tone with other elements of your wardrobe and really do the trick.

If you're looking for something that matches, go with charcoal hose. Your jacket is farther from your hose than your kilt is, so matching to your jacket (or appearing to do so) is a bit easier.

Thank you guys. You've all been very helpful so far. It's actually the RED Hamilton taran that's in question.

    Anyone else?

    Get hosed!

In the House of Cheviot line (Lewis, Rannock,Tyree etc) I think Ancient Blue or Dark Natural would look nice. I am a fan of brown shaded hose with red shaded tartans.

Thank you everyone. I'm for sure going with charcoal & some brownish shades. I'm certainly going to experiment with some other colors though. I'll keep everyone updated as time allows.
