    Two Thumbs up for Turpin

I had Turpin of Thorfinn Sporrans make me a day sporran to order this summer. It was kind of experimental in that he tried out some new ideas. It was just what I wanted and worked great. I teamed it up with a R-Kilt braided sporran belt. Early last week, I was standing in my office at work and the sporran fell off me. It turns out the little strap that the sporran belt attaches to came unstitched. The gusset that the strap runs through was coming undone too.

I PM'ed Turpin and he said to return it. I sent it out from Oregon last Thursday, priority mail to Thorfinn Sporran's international headquarters in Roswell, Georgia.

Upon returning home from work today, I spied the box I had sent the sporran off in. (I also know Turpin is in Las Vegas even as we speak). I opened the box and Turpin had made a new little strap out much heavier leather and two beefy d-rings. He also re-stitched the gusset at the top and added a second row of stitching.

So in one weeks time I mailed it, he received it, repaired and returned it. That ladies and gentlemen, is outstanding service.

Now here's the kicker. In the box Turpin included a few business cards, a note and a $10 bill to cover my shipping. This is above and beyond the call and that's why I'm writing this.

If you want a quality product that the maker stands behind, look no farther than Thorfinn Sporrans.

    Thank you Turpin.

That is a great story, it's nice to see people standing behind their products, I have one of his sporrans and have also found Turpin to be a great guy to work with.

Awsome story. Turpin sounds like quite a guy... I'll have to look him up at the Stone Mountain Games.

Thanks Dale, and I appreciated being able to see how things have held up so I can make needed modifications to improve durability.

I'm amazed it arrived so quickly - I only sent it out tuesday IIRC. Gotta love the USPS. and BTW, I'll be in Vegas next week. (I hope that doesn't make the service seem less miraculous).

Anyone in Vegas up for a kilt nite? Nine Fine Irish Gentlemen is the venue I've heard of.

I'll be at the Gordon tent, Ryan. Also at Blairsville, Grandfather, and Loch Hartwell. I hope we can get together sooner for some Great SEKS, but things are quiet since we all pooped out on Tartan Day and left Gilmore holding the bag (For which I still fell bad, Gill).

OK, Thorfinn sporrans are definitely worth the money. Here I can see a big difference between the inexpensive jobs and something of quality. We have fabulous workmanship, features, and a maker who stands behind them.

Too bad they are mostly day sporrans.

Although, I will add one to my collection.

You might consider a Thorfinn Sporran with a fox flap. There is a picture of one on his web site. I have one of these sporrans with a red fox flap, it goes quite well with formal wear.

The prices are very reasonable for the mask sporran. Not sure if I want one though.

Although, I am thinking about the possibility of having my dog made into one when she passes It would be interesting, but dubious legally.

Why is it the fur sporrans I like are mostly illegal?

Ah, I'll be sure to come on over! Also, I'll be at the Scottish Tartans Society tent.

I live right over in Dunwoody, and I was wondering if there was a group of local kilties... I'd love to take part in a kilt night or two.

Turpin's work is only exceeded in class by the man himself.

    { That will be 5 bucks Turp! }
