USMC Sporran
OK, brothers and sisters, help me out here. I am lining up my outfit for the Marine Corps Ball (November 10th). Got the Argyle jacket in the works, got a box pleat Leatherneck tarten in Barb's queue, dark blue kilt hose, white tux shirt, red bow tie and kilt flashes. Got an appropriate sgian dubh. Here's the problem. Neither my wife nor I like either full face or long horsehair sporrans. What I would love would be to find a semi-dress clan crest sporran with the eagle globe and achor instead of the clan crest. Anybody have any ideas?

See if www.wyvernleatherworks.com can make what you want. You might take a look at his new eagle sporran, also.

Sounds like you will be dressed out right proper. I would like to find the mess dress jacket and vest and wear the mini medals on the lapel.. I like the blue hose and red flash.. I have red traditional garters to wear with my Leatherneck box pleat Steve is making for me... It sounds like it will be started in a couple weeks now... Jonesing has commenced....LOL
I like the Marine gear, Ron suggested. Very smart.. I will visit the Alexis site for some new accessories.. If your going to wear it... Do it right.. Couldn't expect any less from a Marine... Semper Fi Brother!

Ron gave you good advice. For a Marine Corps Ball, I'd recommen the formal fur with the EGA. It'll just look nicer and--IMHO--more appropriate that the semi-formal.
I was influenced by Scottie Thompson many years ago when he suggested that a semi-formal was "neither fish nor fowl."
