Waistcoat with lapels
On my wish list is a jacket and waistcoat from Lady Chrystel. I picked out a cloth and I know exactly what I want. But I promised I would wait until after I dropped some weight.
Here I am with a scotch tasting and a wedding coming up in a few months and I would like a jacket and waistcoat for these events.
So for my question. Does anyone have a clue where I could get a kilt jacket and waistcoat with lapels? Obviously I'm trying to be cost effective because if I wasn't I would just pull the trigger NOW on the jacket and waistcoat from L.C.
Here is a sample

Re: Waistcoat with lapels
If the waistcoat doesn't have to match the jacket may I suggest the Gentlemens Emporium for a waistcoat. I have recently received two, one in burgundy (all wool) and one in red (wool/poly mix) Both have half collars. Service was excellent and cost acceptable. I intended to wear both under tweed kilt jackets. Obviously they are not the quality or exact style you would get from Lady Chrystel but for a fill in, I think they would suit your need.

Gad zooks! I hope my son has not found that site. They certainly could set you up with a waistcoat. I haven't looked that deeply about jackets. I imagine that is a little more of a challenge there. It is pretty warm yet. Maybe you don't need a jacket for a month or so?
I admire your style and your plan to get a set from Lady Chrystel. That will be awesome!

Re: Waistcoat with lapels
I got this nice vintage-looking waistcoat with lapels at an ordinary clothing store, JC Penny or the like. It works well with my vaguely Highlanders of Scotland look.

And here is a lovely vintage photo I recently came across showing wonderful check tweed jackets and waistcoats

Here are more vintage waistcoats with lapels:

Re: Waistcoat with lapels
Why, oh why, have I never seen this Gentleman's Emporium website before???!
I think I love everything about this waistcoat. The lapel shape, the flat cut bottom, the 4 pockets, the color, even the buttons. When paired with the right kilt and accessories, it would look simply smashing.

Tobus has written my post exactly, so now I don't have to say that I, too, like everything about that vest.
Hmmm... Do you suppose I'm smart enough to make a waistcoat like that? Hmmm...
