What boots for a Highlander?
It seems a rare choice; but, I'm wondering if there is/was a traditional Scot-style of boot as differentiated from the contemporary English styles through the ages; or, were quality European footwear more universal than I presume?
I know that one sees a great deal of conventional shoes in opposition to anything resembling modern ghillie-brogues in period dress, and that boots were more a mainstay of equestrians (both by habit as well as class) generally... Perhaps boots were more common in the Border regions of Scotland where horses were more often used for personal transportation?
Also, any advice regarding wearing boots with kilt-hose (is any required?) would be appreciated.
The spirit of the Declaration of Arbroath (6 April 1320) abides today, defiantly resisting any tyranny that would disarm, disperse and despoil proud people of just morals, determined to keep the means of protecting their families and way of life close at hand.
