What Color is Merlot in SportKilt Sox?
Wanted to order some more of SportKilts soccer socks/inexpensive kilt hose. They work well for me in the Arizona heat pushed down with tennis shoes.
They list a color called Merlot....think that's some sort of wine, but don't know if its a white wine, a maroonish wine, or a purple wine. No response to my email to SportKilt asking them. Couldn't find a color swatch on this new website upgrade.
Just wondering if anyone has bought a pair of SportKilts merlot colored hose and can give me a clue...merlot isn't even in my dictionary.
Need to know what the SportKilt sox color is....not what folk think merlot should be. Thanks for any help.

It's not a white (merlot is nasty stuff anyway), more of a maroon I think.
CT - or dark red

Nasty stuff?! I dunno what area your merlot comes from, CT, but Aussie merlot's are lovely... at least, they're my preferred red.
Of course, personal tastes vary - variety is the spice of life, after all.
and yeah, merlot's are a deep ruby red.
cheers!

Great about the wine, but does anyone happen to have a pair of sox from SportKilt in what SportKilt calls merlot? Would like to know what common color they are near.
Kinda like trying to figure out what shade of blue Elephant's Breath Blue is.
Maybe SportKilt will get around to reading their emails from customers and respond...one can hope.

color of merlot
merlot is a red wine; when talking about wood finishes a merlot stain is a dark wood with a good bit of purple in it, so I'm betting they mean a dark aubergine or eggplant color. It's usually something that looks very rich.

Not sure if this helps Ron, but right above the field ontheir web site wher you select what color you want there is a hyper link which says "view colors". It shows swatches of the colors which of course will vary with the monitor you're looking at.

...I'm still trying to find out what happened to Burgundy...you remember the color Burgundy...
...and when it comes to insignificant distinctions between shades of a color, who better than Frasier and Niles:
Niles: What color is the new carpet?
Frasier: I'm going up a shade... to "Harvest Wheat."
Niles: I thought the next shade up was "Buff."
Frasier: It used to be, but they've discovered a whole new color in
between.
Niles: So now it's "Tofu, Putty, Oatmeal"...
Both: "Almond, Harvest Wheat"...
Frasier: "and Buff."
Niles: That's going to be hard to get used to. [Frasier nods]
Although, in fairness, any shade of a color can have the distinction of being either a "warm" shade or a "cool" shade...this would make a difference in whether it goes well with a certain tartan...
So now it's "Burgundy, Claret, Cabernet...Merlot and then Port..."

Hey Ron,
I'll stay out of the wine debate (although I love a good Merlot, dusky dry is best), but I do have a pair in merlot from SK. I can post a pic tonight from home, don't have one here in the office. For reference, the color is a deep red/maroon color, kind of like a pair of red hose that has had a heavy dose of purple added. Do you have any other SK hose yet? If so, tell me which colors (I have most of them) and I will snap the pic with the other color hose next to the merlot.
