    where to buy flashes?

hey y'all, i know this is similar to my other question but i figure hey, it *is* a different question, so why not make it a different thread? so as per the name of the thread, i was wondering where you good folk get your flashes from (i need black). i would go USA Kilts, but they dont have black, and sportkilt's flashes look weird...anyway, what are the best looking flashes for the least amount of money and where can i get them? thanks lads.

Try a local Scottish store. They will likely have the best selection on hand.

Grosgrain ribbon looped over an elastic band or a piece of velcro from wallmart works good, too. Costs alot less.

BTW, has anyone seen flashes made of fur or hair?? I was thinking calf tail, horse hair, rabbit, etc. Almost tempted to look in a fly fishing shop for some materials to make something. Would fur flashes be be appropriate? Look bad?? etc.

Brushed Phentex might work as well... Some color choice there.

Seamus, I don't want you to think that nobody from this side of the pond is offering help here! However, although I could so easily recommend any number of kiltmakers and Highland Dress suppliers in Scotland, the cost of shipping such a small and relatively inexpensive item would probably far exceed the cost of the flashes!! It just would not make economic sense since you will be able to get the identical items over there in North America. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!
