Winnipeg and sporrans
I'm looking for a seal skin formal sporran.
In the US I'm not allowed to purchase one. In Canada I am.
Can anyone recommend a good good Highland store in Winnipeg?

It isn't legal to import the aforementioned sporran into the US after you've purchased it. I'm pretty sure that it would be considered smuggling.
Screw the seal skin, get a nice fur sporran in something that won't send you to prison.

There are no Highland stores in Winnipeg anymore.
There is a family in Stonewall who have an online store and do tables at local shows that list a couple seal skin sporrans available through them.

I'm guessing Mr. Fedgunner only wants to store it on the Canadian side and just wear it when he's visiting north of the border.....

I've got two Dress Sporrans, a Sealskin and a Bovine Sporran, when I go to the States I take the Bovine Sporran. I think that the best thing to do if you are living in the States is to get an alternative to sealskin just to be on the safe side. Here are both side by side:

Plus, forgetting the law, there are certain ethical ideas that led to the creation of such laws. It's a bit difficult to find "ethically clubbed" seal these days.

I really like the faux seal sporrans one can find, they look just as nice in my opinion.

I like mine as well, it looks great. It's wicked soft, built very nicely, and didn't break the bank, via ScotWeb.

Clubbing seals was banned in Canada several years ago. The taking of Seal pups was also banned. Adult seals are hunted every year, but the method of hunting is to shoot them. So, I guess, ethically, it would be equivalent to having a deer hide sporran.

Well, that just threw a bunch of my jokes and analogies out the window!
