The amazing race is a tv show that started with several teams of two people. They might be married, friends, brothers, sisters etc. They started in L A California and compete in difference challenges before moving on to the next country. The challenges normally have something to do with the country they are in.There is normally a losing team each week and they are eliminated from the show.winning team I think wins $1,000,000.

I don't get it, and I live in the USA
I have no interest in "reality" shows, because I've never thought that there was any "reality". I figured they were all scripted, more or less.
This was confirmed when I was hired to pipe on one of these shows. No "reality", there was a script telling the actors what to say, a director telling them where to stand, setting up each shot with the lighting people etc just like any other show.
The teams on these sorts of shows tend to be cornball stereotypes so over-the-top that I can't see how anyone can believe that they're anything other than hired actors: there's always stuff like the "hillbillies", the "bimbos", the "valley girls", etc etc you get the idea.

I agree.I normally don't watch it,but the reviews of Scotland looked promising. They showed barrel rolling and piping.

My wife is a fan of that show. I am not into reality shows at all. However, being a geography teacher (in a former life) I do find parts of this show to be interesting. We will both be watching this evening - just because it was mentioned here...and the locale, of course.

Once you've watched it, you will need to explain to us Scots what "barrel rolling" is in a Scottish context!

I would agree reality tv just isn't reality. However this show seems the most down to earth and education family show out there. I've been a fan for years, and although some situations seem a little over the top (like taking a power boat ride from the Canadian side of the Niagara River to the New York side for the final run to the finish line without going through customs) it's a good watch.
