    Bagpipes on NBC Olympics coverage.

Just caught NBC with a several minute special interest feature during the Olympics coverage on bagpipes.

I'm glad my wife is recording the Olympics, then. I really enjoy the music and any interviews I've heard from the Red Hot Chili Pipers. Of course, I'm a bit biased, being a bit of a piper myself.

Was anyone else a bit peeved at her continual "men in skirts" joke?

I agree! Maybe one reference is OK for the general audience. However, the "men in skirts" reference was made at least three times during the clip.

Darn! I’ve missed hearing and seeing the pipes played again!
Actually, I was seriously disappointed in the Olympics opening ceremony. Granted, it was an event in England, not Scotland, so one did not expect to see kilts much in evidence. But even where they could have made an appearance, they did not.
The Scottish kiddie choir sang Flower of Scotland, but the tartan of that name was nowhere to be seen.
The percussion section of the band was led by Dame Evelyn Glennie, but she was not wearing her Rhythms of Evelyn Glennie tartan.
And the only unbifurcated garment among the uniforms of those carrying the Union Jack to be hoisted was the skirt of an airwoman.
    Nae kilts!
    ’Tis a crying shame!
    Regards,
    Mike
