BBC TV "Three Men Go to Scotland"
In episode 1 of this two-parter, the fifth entry in the 'Three Men in a Boat" series, comedians Dara O'Briain, Griff Rhys Jones and Rory McGrath get kilted up to muck about at the Kilmore & Kilbride Highland Games 2010.
I wish I could recommend it as of interest to kilties, but these are comedians of the 'nothing is sacred' school being presented as laddish mates and most of the 'comedy' is lavished on going without underwear, plus a side order of 'Wow, we are the only guys in kilts!" (apart from the competitors) and mock Scottish accents. Cutting edge material, Liberty Bell Productions...
Rory & Dara, who as usual are portrayed as boozy pranksters following in Bosworth's well oiled footsteps, look pretty shambolic in hoodies, the joke being that Griff Rhys Jones, as straight man of the series, looks really sharp.
His tartan looks to me something like Mackenzie (?): black & green with white and red overstripe (although there's a 'Modern Jones' that looks somewhat similar, amongst others). O'Briain's looks to me like a Lamont (?): green, black and some blue I think with a white overstripe. I would have put McGrath in a MacRae, but I didn't recognise his, black & green with an subtle double blue tracking around a white overstripe.
The Games and the competitors are treated with some respect and the tired kilt bit is in contrast to their general admiration of the West Highlands and Islands. I don't post this to annoy anyone, just a heads-up if it'll bug you, to skip an aberrant bit from a series I generally enjoy. Save your blood pressure & fast forward to the sailing.
