    The Eagle

My wife and I watched "The Eagle" starring Channing Tatum last night. Though it didnt have any kilts (I dont think), it gave me another image/idea of how the Scottis (Dal Riata) and Picts used to be. Very caveman like!

I kinda always imagined the Picts as they were depicted the movie "Arthur" with Clive Owens. Real interesting. They, the Scots, are the bad guys in the movie but still very entertaining.
    Somebody ought to.

I watched the same recently. I don't know how accurate that portrayal was as far as the indigenous cultures, but I did find it cool that many of the natives, while not wearing kilts (still about 700+ years to go for that little fashion moment), there were sporrans.

Can't remember where, but I remember reading an ancient tome that pre-dates the kilts regarding the "Gauls" as wearing their belt pouches in front of their bodies instead of to the side.

I would advise you not to trust that film, regardless of how fun it was, in regards to the historical accuracy of EITHER side, Gael/Pict or Roman.

Since when has Hollywood been historically accurate?

It didn't have kilts, but one of the wayward Romans living among the Picts was donning a rather handsome sporran when he was girded for battle near the end.

Yeah, I noticed the sporran also. Looked like Badger.

I know its more than likely not historically correct but it adds another mental image, different than the one I already had.
