Kilt in a political cartoon - WWII
who says skirts are sissy.jpg
My mother surprised me recently by giving me an album she put together when she was in college - all political cartoons from 1939 to 1943, many of them from Britain. It seems all were published in the New York Times or a local paper on Long Island. They provide a very interesting view into the times that is providing me with perspective I had not had before.

I have a book with 'Jane' and other cartoons of a similar era, cut out and stuck into it.
With Jane clothing seems to have been either flimsy, revealing, or optional. The view was certainly interesting.

Yes, indeed, Anne, Jane was my late father's favourite pin-up! She appeared daily in a strip (pun intended) cartoon in the Daily Mirror. They are quite collectable, I understand.

Its not often that you see a man in a kilt and a man in a fustanella charging into battle together!

But when you do, watch out.
