Kilt skate Ottawa
http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-...nal-kilt-skate
This morning, it was -23C, which made for excellent skating conditions on the Rideau Canal here in Ottawa, Canada. Although perhaps a bit nippy for some, the cold did not prevent a good turnout for the kilted skate in honour of the 200th birthday of Sir John A. Macdonald.
The event was sponsored by the Scottish Society of Ottawa, many of whom no doubt watched from a warm pub nearby...

Great story and pics. Makes one proud to be Canadian!

I'm proud that the Sun decided to illuminate the day for all that braced the chill. Good job Canadians.

I was gutted that I could not participate. Our furnace packed it in Friday night late and I was totally consumed with having that looked after before the pipes froze. Hopefully we are able to repeat the skate next year...

Very nice! Looks like a lot of fun. I haven't been on skates in years but I would have drug them out for that one if I lived nearby.

My Mom grew up in Detroit and said all the best skaters came from across the river in Windsor, Ontario. Looks like the Canadian folk are a tough lot--bare knees in that cold. Great photos and looks like all were having a grand time.
