Kilted Pic in the Local Weekly Paper

Ya gotta look close, I'm in the top right of the pic just ahead of a clump of people on the edge of the pic. Wearing my USA Casual Isle of Skye tartan to go with my purple Survivor shirt at our local Relay for Life. You can see my big old hair on buffalo skin sporran too.
This is the survivor's lap, where all us survivors (about 150 in a town of 7,000 - ain't bad!) walk the first lap together.
Anyway, always cool to be in the paper kilted - even if in the far background....and for this occasion...sure beats taking a dirt nap. Gotta love modern medical science.
Maybe a moderator can be kind enough to at the last r to the title for me....thanks...chemo fog...

Ah, yes. There you are. Who cares about far background when you're still in the picture. That's what counts. I'm with you. Hats off to modern medical science, and to all the nurses and med techs in the trenches who make it work. Bless 'em.

That picture puts things into perspective more than somewhat. Well done Ron and your fellow travelers.

Glad you could make it, and with so many others. Folk need to be reminded it can be beaten, and life can be good again.

When in Flagstaff for my semi-annual check up at the oncologist last Friday the very upbeat guy who ran my chemo over 2 years ago came out to the lobby to get someone, saw me, and lit up. We chatted a while. Sometimes I think the doc schedules the follow ups to give him and his staff a boost and a reminder that they do win often.
And, wearing a kilt to the appointments (was kilted for the chemo) helps them remember me.

I like that thought!
I think my oncologist thinks because I beat cancer I decided to get back on a motorbike and see if I can survive that! AT the last checkup he said "So now it's one a year and I feel confident in saying you probably won't die of cancer before then. As for death by motorcycle, I'm not qualified to comment". Made me laugh.

Crack me up - but not in the motorcycle sense. My oncologist told me Friday that everything was perfect except for the way I was dressed....Green leather RKilt cargo, green and brown aloha shirt, and brown Teva sandals. For some reason, he still struggles with the kilts....and Flagstaff is a kilt friendly town and he's an old hippie....go figure.
