Kilts on Raven
I was doing the dishes last night after dinner and the girls were on the couch watching That's So Raven on the Disney channel. The story line was the kids on Raven were meeting with some band members and were going to show their own music and wanted to show the same style as the band they were going to meet. They were originally told the band they would be meeting was a country and western band, so they dressed in checked shirts, jeans, and cowboy hats. Well, they actually met with a hip-hop band, so they quickly changed to showcase hip-hop. Toward the end they began experimenting with different styles they could represent and all of a sudden I hear pipes! Quickly ran into the living room and sure enough, they were dressed in kilts on stage with a young piper part of the group. I was amazed. For those that know the show, it is definitely an indication that kilts are becoming more mainstream.

A day or two ago Sciuroterus admits to watching "7th Heaven". Today the KiltedCodeWarrior is talking about watching "That's so Raven". Is anyone else out there finding this really disturbing?

I can one up that. KCW at least has children who watch "That's So Raven".
I watch it...alone. And I don't have kids. And I laugh at it. In my (albeit weak) defense, it's really the only thing on broadcast television on Saturday mornings aside from infomercials when I'm cleaning up the living room at the time.

And I will go on record as admitting that I will sometimes watch it even without the kids. It is actually a very well done show. Certainly teaches the kids some diversity, and the story lines are usually engaging. While I would personally rather watch CSI, Raven is a better option when the family is around. We have like 7000 cable channels, yet the only ones we ever watch are Disney, PBS, and the local cable news/weather/current events channel.
Hmmh, why am I paying $85/month for 3 channels....

That's why we cancelled our cable. We only do Netflix and our own videotape/DVD collection. We saved money, and now when the kids want to watch something we have to make a conscious choice we are OK with them watching it. It cut their (and our) TV time down incredibly.

What a great idea! I'll have to convince the wife to cancel our satellite service and just do movies... More money for the kilt accessories I need!

Wow, more exposure for the kilt in mainstream society! That's really neat to hear.
We have about 900 cable channels  and we it's Disney channel for a few hours in the morning for the kid, and in the evening, there's only about four other channels--two of which are Discovery and Discovery Science. I still think it's ridiculous to have all those channels, but it's the only way to get the few channels we want. The one time I decided to try and flip through all the channels, I gave up after 300

I actually love the fact that we just have broadcast tv. Sure, I miss the History and Travel channels, but our local PBS station makes up for it and if there's really something on the two above cable channels that I really need to see immediately, I have a wonderful sister who will tape things for me.
netflix is definitely the way to go, especially since they're putting out just about every tv show, new and old, on dvd. sure, you have to wait a year or so to see the newer shows, but that just makes their viewing all the more pleasureable.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new series "Heroes" all at once at the end of the year instead of in installments with various breaks and reruns.

Cool, another fan.
"Are you on the list?"
That's the one show I am watching regularly. My TV is on a lot, but it's usually background noise.
