Adjunct to Kilt'n'Khuk's post on the "motel 6" commercial, there has been a TV spot running in Ontario for a few months for a company called MoneyMart. This is a short term, high interest loan / check cashing concern. the 30 second ad features a crusty old Scot with coke-bottle glasses opening a rediculously oversized sporran and dumping a half kilo of loose coin onto a table. With pipe music wailing in the background, the old geezer shouts, "...the world judges a man by the size of his sporrran!". Quite funny and well done.
In another commercial, this one for "Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale" (brewed in Nova Scotia), takes place in celtic pub. Another crusty Scot finds out that they have run out of Keiths on-tap. He jumps up on the bar and shouts "You let the pride of Nova Scotia run dry??... rise up!...who's with me!"
Exposure for kilts... yes. But is it the general perception of the world that by wearing a kilt you're telling the world that you're a crusty old Scot or wannabe one.? These commercials are quite entertaining but it would be nice if they produced one with less "tongue in cheek". IMHO
