One thing the organizers could do, perhaps, is improve their publicity - until the Times picked it up, I hadn't heard about it, so I missed it!

That is fantastic news. Are there pipe band judges in Australia? Must be. I know a couple who might be interested in coming if you need more.

Yes, there are judges here and quite a lot of pipe band contests - apart from this new Logan initiative, the next nearest to me is in Ipswich, an annual event, I believe, about an hour's drive away. Publicity isn't a strong suit here, so locating them is a challenge!

Actually, massed pipe bands aren't my favourite, I much prefer the solo piping at Highland Games, I think you get more precision and "feeling" that way but others may disagree.
