    The Lone Donnachaidh

Not quite a kilt issue, but more "media" than clan forum, I think?

Recent Smithsonian magazine had an article about, of all things, the Lone Ranger (old and new versions). As with most Smithsonian articles, it contained at least one "I didn't know that!" tidbit. Seems before he became the Lone Ranger, that Texas Ranger's real name was John Reid.

    He's a Donnachaidh!

The clan that claims sept Morrison (sorry, can't name them off the top of my head) always displays a life-size cutout of The Duke outside their tent at SoCal games, to lure in the curious. I've got a LR poster on order so that Clan D can start the same sort of conversations. I even have the response to what I figure will be the opening question:

"As with Marion Morrison, the studio system felt that The Lone Donnachaidh was not suitable for movie marquees. So with a wave of the Hollywood wand, he became the Lone Ranger!"
Proudly Duncan [maternal], MacDonald and MacDaniel [paternal].

Below are a couple pics of the Lone St. Ranger. Actually, they are a tawdry imitation of Dale Seago in his Serengeti II shirt from Cabelas.

Note the kilt. It's a 5-yard Burnett's & Struth Casual in Lochcarron Strome cloth. While I have no known link to Clan Donnachaidh, I really like the tartan.

I think it goes nicely with the blue Ryan Ross bonnet.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
