Pipe Band Perform on Porthcawl Beach, South Wales

    Video, 2minutes 34 seconds.
[quote] A Scottish bagpipe band stunned onlookers when they gave a rousing performance on a Welsh beach .
The California and District Pipe Band, from near Falkirk, marched on Porthcawl's Tarmac beach on Sunday, much to the delight of visitors and photographer Stephen Jones, who posted a video online.
Many people walking along the seafront stopped to watch the performance.
The band was among the many Celtic music acts who travelled to the town for the 2017 Cwlwm Celtaidd - Wales' Interceltic Festival.
The family-friendly festival of music, song and dance from Ireland, Scotland, the Isle of Man, Cornwall, Brittany and Wales takes place every year.
A packed programme of concerts, dances, workshops and street displays ran from Thursday to Sunday and was hosted by the Grand Pavilion.
The California and District Pipe Band also marched through the main shopping street of Porthcawl, as well as performing on the main stage.
The headline acts were Celtic folk bands Calan and Jamie Smith's Mabon.
Visitors to the town were also treated to a display of folk dancing on the seafront.
Porthcawl's Tarmac beach, also known as the Town Beach, is set to be completely transformed this year thanks to a £1.6m project to boost the sea defences.
If the plans get the go ahead, the rapidly deteriorating grey shoreline will be covered over by pre-cast concrete terraces designed to minimise the force of the waves and protect the Esplanade, businesses and properties for years to come.
Work is expected to start in April.
