On the BBC website today: Donald Swanson - The Scot who hunted Jack the Ripper. In the full length (kilted) picture he appears to be wearing an ex-military Arygll and Sutherland kilt.

Love that quote. My great-great grandmother was Janet Swanson of Thurso, born in 1830. Parents were Donald Swanson and Elizabeth Gow. Possibly Donald of Scotland Yard was related in some way, but the name isn't uncommon in Caithness at that time.
