    Stone Of Destiny

I probably plugged this one before...and there isn't one actual kilt in the movie that I can remember...but it's a good little movie with some very nice performances...and it's now available on the streaming thingie from Netflix for those of you who have that capability.

...just wait until you get toward the end and get the punchline from the scene in the Gypsy camp...

Amazing the English reviews of the film (from Wikipedia)

Critical response to the film was mixed: Canadian Film, "A heartwarming triumph for the human spirit. For the non-English, a powerful tale of courage, pride, and the innocence of youth", Variety, "This unabashedly sentimental and outright anti-English pic is stodgy as a cheap haggis with nationalistic sentimentality", The Guardian, "A wee-dram-and-bagpipes invitation to a mythical Scotland of yesteryear", Channel 4, "A woeful slice of sentimental whimsy that makes Braveheart look like a documentary."

The £6m movie took just £140,000 in the three weeks subsequent to release.

Disappointing receipts. We loved the film; light-hearted fun. Mattered not a whit that it was factual (and you don't realize that until the end).

A nice little film, possibly a sleeper that hasn't found its audience. After all, no vampires or zombies are featured.

I watched this movie a few months ago because I couldn't find anything else that peaked my interest at all. I loved it! A sleeper for sure.

That is SO true...if they had to fight their way through vampires (and teen age, angst ridden vampires would be the best!) and zombies, it would have improved the movie one thousand percent!

I loved this film. Watched it twice in the same week (the SO missed the first viewing). But, as others have said, if it's not about teen-agers, it's not going to doing well. Perhaps, if they had used their wands and said "Levioso" to lift the stone, it would have also lifted the film's revenues.

Great movie in my opinion. Me and the wife watched it a few weeks ago on Netflix. Very much a story that needs to be told.

I like this film! Of course The Guardian wouldn't approve of anything this pro-Scotland, but has has been said before, this is a light, enjoyable film that is very uplifting.
