Tilted Kilt Ad at Baseball Game
So I'm watching the preseason game between the Yankees and the Phillies tonight on MLB Network and during one play down the right field line there's a huge ad for The Tilted Kilt on the cover for the tarp they use to cover the field in the rain. Has the Tilted Kilt logo and the message "Right across the street."
Never figured out where the game was being played. Guessing in Florida somewhere there's a Tilted Kilt across the street from a baseball stadium.
Now, if they'd kilt the groundskeepers....

Maybe I'm weird or not manly enough, but I have a real problem with those guys from Las Vegas sexualizing the kilt. You want to compete with Hooters? Fine. You want a chain of stripper clubs? I got no problem with that either. I do have a problem with taking a cultural icon and using it in a contrived way to compete with Hooters.
Now they're all over the US.

I would recommend viewing the Tilted Kilt episode of the program "Undercover Boss". I believe it is still available through Netflix.
There are some male members of the staff (including the clandestine CEO) who are kilted. Clearly they don't have much insight into the ways of highland dress.

Well, to put my two cents in, I don't really think they are competing with Hooters as much as you might think at first. The atmosphere is considerably more wholesome. The male staff wear kilts that look a lot like black Amerikilts. There are a couple near us, in areas we frequent, and Michele and I have always found it to be essentially a family sports bar, with a humorously intended Scottish theme. Let's face it, they didn't invent the minikilt, several of vendors here sell a version. And a point you will get, if you watch the Undercover Boss episode, is that they expect the young ladies wearing them to act like young ladies - friendly, but not, how to put this, overly familiar. And the food is typical sports bar fare, but good of its kind.

The Phillies do spring training in Clearwater, Florida by the way.

The Tilted Kilt is in Clearwater Florida, right across from the stadium. While I have never been there, heard its a nice place to go and the waitresses are all wearing mini kilts too.
