    Trading Castles

Anyone happen to catch the last episode of Trading Spaces (TLC)? They had a special show dedicated to two couples trading Scottish castles, and re-modeling one room apiece in their traded space.

One of the designers wore a kilt through most of the show. He treated it as a novelty, sadly. And he hadn't really gotten the hang of it ... at one point, the Scottish castle-owner had to tell him to lower his kilt when he squatted.

The Scots in the show carried it off with more dignity. The woodworker was mostly kilted, and at the end one of the owners showed up in full formal regalia, as did a squad of pipers.

Moral of the story? Scottish castles are still very livable, and nice-looking until you agree to have them made over on basic cable. No, that's cruel, the rooms looked good when they'd finished.

    Trading spaces...

The wife & I like to watch "Trading Spaces" (the Carpenter Amy Wynn Pastor is my main motivation! ), so we'll keep an eye out for that one!

Sad that they had to make a joke out of the kilt, though. Reminds me of that one "Home Improvement" episode...

    Cheers,

    T.

I caught the last 15 minutes of the show. Hopefully it will be on again.

I watched that episode last night. It was a fun expisode. Except one of the deisgner. He decided to wear a Royal Stewart with a Montrose Style Shirt that wasn't tucked in. He was also wearing a Tuxedo tail and a 'hat.'

However, the other carpenter wore his Douglas tartan well.

I noticed that as well. It looked awful. His sporran strap really excentuated his belleh.

Here's the website with info about the episode. Here is a pic on the website of a guy in his kilt (I'm pretty sure it's Faber, the carpenter) in front of one of the castles, but it's kind of small.

Here's the website for the episode, if anyone wants to read about it, and see the completed rooms.

Frank and Hildi? THERE'S a recipe for disaster. It seems like those two have a penchant for creating some of the worst designs I've ever seen on the show.

Faber (the kilted carpenter) should have known how to wear a kilt properly, since he is from Scotland. Frank, on the other hand, generally looks like a candidate for "What Not to Wear" most of the time anyway, so why would him being kilted be different?

Funny that, I was saying to my wife just last week that I'd love to live in a castle.

What are kilts doing to me?

I wanted to see that, but was out at a Burn's night (I was the only one not associated with the evening that was kilted). I really am turning into a attention whore. Must be Andrew and Bea's influence.

Another point of interest, is that the host of that show, Paige Davis, got given the big axe this weekend. Good ridance to her.

    Graham,

With what you have told us about your property and all that goes with it, wife, kids, and friends. I am sure that you would not have any problem with really trading castles with anyone.

I wish that I could see the program, but have not oh well, life goes on.
