Are You Being Served
I caught a piece of the British sitcom "Are You Being Served?" yesterday. One scene featured a kilted Scotsman buying his first set of trews. A bit of humor came into play as the salesman was trying to figure out how to measure the inseam of a kilted man. He was relieved when the Scotsman showed him how to measure it from outside the kilt.

Can't have been Mr Humphries then - he wouldn't have been that relieved!

The kilt pops up (no pun) on AYBS several times.
One of my faves is when Gordon Kaye (from "Allo, Allo", another insane Brit-Com) shows up in full kilt regalia asking to buy an overcoat. He tries them on in front of a mirror and keeps throwing it open in classic "flasher" style...and this obviously gets the attention of both Mr. Humphries (quelle suprise!) and Mr. Lucas. Kaye's character explains that he's a celebrity photographer, a papparazzi, and he demonstrates that his camera is hidden in his sporran which has a pop-up front activated by a cable release up his sleeve. He notes that his friends call him "Candid Cameron".
You've got to love Are You Being Served...and the fact that they milked it for so many years and then came back with the sequel, Are You Being Served Again AND managed to not only keep the Grace Brothers cast going with more in-character jokes but also added Mr. Moleturd and his very healthy daughter...it's just fantastic.

I love that episode, especially when the Scotsman calls Mr Lucas a "damned Sassanach!"

Let's hope he was a highlander or he would have been one himself!

I gotta agree that AYBS is great! I love that show, but I didn't know they made a follow on series. My PBS never bought it I guess.

The second series is more commonly known as "Grace and Favour".
There is also an episode in the original where they are dressing up and doing a song and dance routine for young Mr Graces birthday and are all in Highland wear and Mr Humpries does a sword dance.
