    148 years ago, today.

Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address on this date 148 years ago.

For me,...his words still have meaning today.

Jeff Daniels' has given his voice to those words. Here's the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvA0J_2ZpIQ

President Lincoln, in that address, said that he didn't believe that his words would live on. Live on, indeed they did, and they are so pertinent even today, especially the last sentence. Thanks for the reminder.

One of the few times he was mistaken was when he said "the world will little not nor long remember what we say here." His words still ring true and speak volumes about the man and about our country.

Two minutes of wondrous oratory to honor the fallen of the field, two minutes of rapture that will long live on in infamy, now and forever an integral part of that battle and battlefied. Probably the shortest and most famous speech in US history. And the best sound bite ever, IMHO.
