A 1970 Sporran
While going thru my stuff ( everyone has stuff ) I ran across a dress sporran that I had packed away . This was given to me new in 1970 , I was 12 at the time .
For whatever reason , I had it packed away and of course I should have remembered it before now !
It was purchased new in 1970 from The Scottish Shopper ( Jack Ironside , for any old timers ) .
It's seal skin ( which was allowable then ) . The cantle is silver plated ( not silver ) and the tassel balls are merely chrome plated .
I doubt that it is valuable , just thought I would share a 70's vintage sporran with the rabble .

I now plan to make it part of my wardrobe . Can't believe that I forgot it !!!

Good find Mike, even though you had it all the time. I am tipping that it is better made than most you will find available these days. I like the dark red trim between the cantle and fur too. I think it will make a grand addittion to your kit. Cheers

Classic. I too enjoy a touch of red leather on an evening sporran like this. The fur looks to be a lovely colour. Silver plate is rare now, it's all chrome plated tin or white metal these days, even on some rather pricey sporrans.
Mine is similar here, but as you can see, it has the black rather than red. Looks like the same cantle though.

Beautiful find! Keep digging, there's probably a pony hidden under all that forgotten Scottish gear.

Thanks all for the kind words !
Nathan , very nice sporran and you're right , I believe the cantles are identical , although mine needs some polishing .
MNlad , hope I don't find a pony , but if I do , it will be a " huge " find. As a wee lad growing up , we had two draft horses .
