Around Here
I've noticed that the already low slung pants on young men are getting even lower. Last two days I've seen the jeans so low they're below their buttocks showing off their underwear and apparently right at the top of their "banana" in front.
The irony of this "tough guy" look is that it takes a tight belt to hold the pants in place. So, the net effect is that these guys are walking like women in skin tight skirts have to....while they josh our kilts and call them skirts THEY, in fact, have to walk like they're wearing a tight skirt while we stride free in our kilts.
Go figure.

Good observation Ron. I have never understood the falling off jeans thing. They can't be comfortable and must be a pain to keep up. Go figure.

Hi,
Never understood the "look" either. There have been a few "perps" here easily apprehended by the police when they fell flat on their faces when trying to flee.

yip, thats the style with the young dudes, obviously they think it is so sexy, but as you know young guys can get away with wearing anything.
but if you look at young dudes who wear the kilt you will see that the kilt hangs well below the knees accompanied by thick socks at ankle length and timberland boots ( the informal look).
so lets not criticise their dress sense because at least in Scotland they are making the kilt more fashionable.

It's funny that you make sweeping generalizations about my generation. However, it isn't always true. Personally, when not kilted, I can't stand a pair of pants or jeans that don't fit. I always wear a belt and don't like the idea of the world knowing what color boxers I wear. Most of the people I see and hang out with have pants that fit. That's not to say I don't see people as you describe. Not every guy from my age generation is dressed that way so do watch the sweeping generalizations. It's only a few sections of the whole demographic with clothing like that. Not all of it.

Yep... credit where it's due.
For young guys around here, it's all baggy "rapper / skater" type blue jeans. The tight hipster cut jeans are the domain of young women.

While I do wear the kilt with boots and scrunched socks, the bottom selvedge hits somewhere between the top of the kneecap and bisecting the kneecap.
Any longer than that, and I agree with J. Charles Thompson's assessment: "Trollopy."
It just looks wrong to me.
Oh, and while my brown boots are Timberlands, my black boots are Bates Enforcers. They go well with the black nylon Nightstalker sporran.

Guess I'm the only one one here that can't stand the tight jeans. I wear my kilt were it should be but I can't stand the tight fitting jeans.

Baggy jeans for me too ...... though I don't think I fit into the young demographic any more!
