Apparently the "Auld Alliance" between France and Scotland began on this day in 1295 - as we have a number of French members (and a bunch of Scots and Scottish enthusiasts) on these forums, I thought it would be pertinent to post about it and wish everyone a happy "Auld Alliance Day"!
Scots settled in new hampshire in backwoods not amongst the english ..native americans due to french contacts were supposedly not molested wherever this was . Scots got along well with french as guards in montreal and quebec ..may have spoke the language . Scots officer(s) were aided by french habitants during the pontiac war ..at least they tried to . Red river settlers winnipeg not sure about there ..victorian times things were formal ..many metsis are not only french but scottish as well ..more elbow rubbing .
