    Bad To Worse

Ok, I just need to vent a little. This week has been the pits. First, I get a call on my days off asking me to come in because our PT guy has a sick wife. I agree to do it, but I am already tired. Today is my first full day off in 2 weeks. To add to that I am a full-time student, so I am exhausted. I recieved some well, deterring, news about the flight school I had applied to attend so now I have to rethink all my plans. Now, today I find out that what I thought was a strut neeeding replaced on my car has turned into over a grand worth of damage. Arg!!!!!! Thank goodness I bought my motorcycle a while back, but I am in the middle of a schizophrenic missouri winter so I get a great day then I freeze the next. I think it is time to bury my head in the sand. End self pity rant.. . . . . thanks for listening.

Sorry to hear, most is actually relatively minor stuff ('tho it does compound each problem) welcome to real life. Most important is your future. Hopefully it's a minor hiccup in your plans to be a pilot.

At least you've got a Burn's Night to look forward to this weekend! And if that doesn't cheer ya up, c'mon out for a visit-- we'll drink some whisky, smoke a few cigars, and cuss at my dog when he farts...

I'm a full time student who's working full time too. I know how strenuous it is. The spring semester is far more stressful than the fall! Anyway. I too am the type of person who can't say no, and everybody knows it. The problem with that is that everyone tends to ask favors, and you end up with no days off...ever. Eventually it just builds on you and you're sleeping less and you become irritable, and then you find yourself being resentful without even intending to. At least that is what happens to me at times. I find that when that happens, no matter what...you have to arrange for a day off for yourself. You cannot run yourself into the ground every day for weeks on end without it having a horrible impact on you as a person. So my advice, no matter how unfeasible it is at this point in your semester, arrange for a day all to yourself. Shut your phone off. Stay away from people if you must. But rest up, and have some fun. Let those worries and stresses out.

I'll tell you, one of the things that a lot of the forum members area always going on about is their ancestry. When I have a couple of days that are total sh*te, I always think of my ancestry and how good I have it compared to them.

My basement started to flood at ten o'clock the other night...I had to go down and rod out the drains...but as I was mucking about, I though that I at least had a basement and a nice heated watertight house while so many of those who had gone before me maybe had a basic roof over their heads and had to go out and cut firewood if they didn't want their kids to freeze in the winter. I won't even get into the concept of running water...

Granted, they didn't have to shell out what would have been for them a lifetime's income for a front end job on their short but it would have taken them weeks to go from Pennsylvania to Ilinois back then too.

And think...there are a whole lot of people all over the world right now who wish they had one tenth of our standard of living.

So try to be a happy warrior...as I tell my son, be sure to eat well and get enough sleep and go with the "that which does not kill me makes me stronger" thang. When the big things suck, take pleasure in the small things.

I have learned to not answer the phone on my days I take off and I won't let the wife answer either. Hay I was out and left the cell phone on the kitchen counter

You will learn these things as you grow older.
