    Barbour help needed!!

A Barbour coat is a great kilt accessory. I recently procured one and it has been very effective in the wind and rain. This past weekend, however, I wore it with the kilt for the first time. I decided to take advantage of the double zipper to access my sporran and it worked just fine. The problem is that it won't go all the way back down and I can no longer unzip the coat. I had to pull it over my head to take it off. I know you can send it away to Barbour for repair but this is a costly process. The zipper seems to be in fine working order and goes up easily enough. There is no cloth snagged etc...

Am I just doing something wrong? Is there a technique to disengaging the zipper? There seems to a lock of some kind on the bottom that may be part of the problem.

Nathan: Stollery's at Yonge and Bloor in Toronto are the go to place for Barbour and do excellent repair work. They also sell the Barbour wax for rewaxing the coat. I bought all my Barbour there including a Barbour coat for my dog.

Any idea how that occurred and how I might fix it?

I called them and they said they can't help me. I bought the wax from them already. :S

I just had a look at my Barbour and have 2 slides. If I compare your slide to mine, it appears that yours is the bottom slide for opening up the bottom of the jacket for sitting etc.. The upper slide on mine is for closing the jacket....i don't what's up with Stollery's, but they certainly do Barbour repairs. I don't know what's going on there.

They said they'll send it away but that it's quite costly.

    Fixed it!

Big thanks to Steve for pointing out that it was misaligned. Once I knew that, I figured out how to fix it.

With my sgian dubh and a pair of pliers, I removed the top stops from the zipper near the collar of the jacket, zipped it all the way up and off the teeth, aligned the teeth and zipped it back down. Then I simply replaced the stops.

Thanks again for the diagnosis, Steve!
