Bears, wolves, coyotes, cougars, OK- but BEAVERS?
Canadian news has added a new menacing species of wildlife to our growing list. Yes, beaver in Alberta have taken to first attacking and, now, killing the dogs of local residents:

If this is a new beaver trend, it may mean I will either have to change my avatar to something less dangerous or run the risk of frightening children and of course puppies! And, with the police searching for the killer of the dog-slaying beaver and since we seem to be working our way down the size chain of mammals, I expect to see the day when we disarmed Canucks will be trapped in our cities due to the menace of ankle- level attacks from voles and field mice!

Beaver Attacks Fisherman in Georgia
First a Canadian beaver is shot after killing a large dog. Now a Georgia man is recovering from wounds he received after a beaver attacked him on a local river.
From this story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
There are some hazards that go along with fishing -- getting stuck by a hook, finned by a fish, sunburn. Getting attacked by an angry beaver is generally not considered a high risk. That's what happened, though, to an Atlanta man, who is recovering from wounds suffered when he was attacked by a beaver last week while fishing near Lake Lanier. Russ McTindal was fishing on the Chattahoochee River just below Buford Dam on Thursday when he was bitten on his leg and arm by the large beaver.
"It was attacking me," McTindal told Channel 2 Action News. "He was actually attacking me. I hadn't provoked him or anything." "I've never tried to fight off a 35-, 40-pound beaver," he said. "This was one of the biggest beavers I've ever seen." After the attack, McTindal said he was losing "a lot" of blood and used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. McTindal is receiving rabies shots. "I know there are two things you don't mess with in the woods," he told Channel 2. "You don't mess with raccoons because they [are] mean. And you don't mess with beavers."
Sounds like this 40 Pound Georgia Critter would make One Hell of a Fine Full Mask Sporran... If-n It Don't Eat Ya First that is!!! Any Takers Out There??? If So, let me know and I'll keep an Eye Open for this Swimmin' Critter Bag for Ya, as I only live 2 miles away from Lake Lanier & Fish there all the time!!!
Later Folks...

I'm not even sure what to say here... what a weird event. Perhaps the beavers have finally gotten organized and are beginning their revenge for all those years of humans clear-cutting forests.

This is our evil Canadian plan for world domination!
Prime Minister Stephen Harper has obviously given the order!
"Release the beavers!"
- sorry.

I remember the first time I was sitting on a dock and had a beaver swim by...I always thought that they were cute little guys but when I saw this one I realized that they were actually pretty BIG.
So they've decided to go on the offensive, eh? Correlate this with the increase in bear attacks and you start to think that maybe we're headed into one of those cheesey '70's "nature's revenge" movies...."Night Of The Lepus", anyone?
Best

Just recently saw 'Night Of The Lepus'- must have been on Turner, no? Anyway, I look forward to a 50s or 70s revival when a movie will be made called perhaps 'Night Of The Huge Beaver'. Now that would fill the drive-ins, would it not?
