    Beechcomber Cottage

I am working abroad at the moment and flipping through the channels I saw an episode of a program titled "Monty Hall's Beechcomber Cottage". Essentially it is a show in which the presenter, Monty Hall, attempts to live in an old abandoned crofters cottage in Scotland. There were no kilts on the episode I watched but there were bagpipes and the long and short of it was the show was simply outstanding. I was just sort of wondering if any of my fellow Xmarkers have seen this program and if anybody new if it was available in its entirety on DVD yet?

The series was aired on Australian TV earlier this year (ABC, our government run channel) I agree it was a great series and showed off the area of Applecross in a very good light.

Monty Halls Beachcomber Cottage [DVD] is available through Amazon but I think it is the UK version. You may also have to search under Monty Hall's Great Escapes

Yeah, I am up in Brisbane at the moment so that makes sense and I think that was the same channel I caught it on. I will check Amazon.uk for it, I can watch PAL DVD's on my computer with no issue. Thanks for the heads up.

    Re: Beechcomber Cottage

Apparently all is not what it seemed. According to local gossip Monty spent most of his time in the pub, which is no bad thing. and when they were doing up the cottage to make it habitable he was nowhere to be seen. I watched it and have to say I enjoyed it but the enjoyment was tempered by what I subsequently learned, that it was the locals who did most of the work while Monty and his girlfriend lived it up at the pub.
That aside the Applecross peninsula is a stunning location and its worth watching to soak up the atmosphere.
