Big piece of Wool for Camping

Let's assume I want to go belted plaid style, or just wrap up in the wool for warmth while I sway in my camping hammock. Does anybody know where one can buy yardage of wool, pretty heavy weight, decently priced? It doesnt have to have any sort of aesthetics, just plain wool.

    Thanks,

    BB

eBay is always a possibility. There have been other recent threads along this line but not sure what you'd search for -- maybe "yardage"? I do recall links to other sources and I'll see if I can come up with them. Sure others will chime in too.

One good retail source is B Black

Others listed in this thread but still not the one I was thinking of, in a recent great kilt discussion.

And another (link is in post #5)

Try looking at Denver Fabrics. My wife bought some heavy wool cloth from them to make a cloak, and it was very good quality. I was impressed, especially for the price.

Military surplus blankets can be found for $10 - $40 and are often 80% wool though 100% can often be found if you look. My local Army Surplus had 100% for about $25 the last time I looked. I have found an Early's 100% for $12. You could stich a couple together in order to get the dimensions you require. Not a DC Dagliesh custom weave , but fills the bill of 'plain wool' at a decent price.

This video shows a fellow using the blanket as a coat/shawl in a manner reminiscent of the upper portion of a plaid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni7a6BVhYZM
