Can we be saved?
Sad news all,
A while back I was honored to attend the naming ceremony of Lighting Medicine Cloud the white buffalo.
Someone cared nothing for the sacred child -

Oh, that is so sad. Thanks for the heads-up.
ADDING:
That prompted me to look around and I saw this. Still sad, but also an outrage:

As a hunter and former trapper, this is just sad and wrong. Some things just aren't done.
I'm not a religious guy (I was a confirmed Lutheran but now I'm a dudeist priest, and take it seriously), but grew up in an area with a lot of native Americans, and sort of hold to their views in a way. I know how sacred this is. I'm also extremely superstitious and believe.. make that hope.. that no good will come to those who did this.

I'm not a hunter or trapper, though I've been both at various times over the years for purely subsistence purposes. And I'm not religious in any formal sense. I do, though, have ancestry among the Lakota (a several-times-great-grandaddy Long Bull who was at the Little Big Horn) as well as the Choctaw, Cherokee, Comanche, and Cree. And my late paternal aunt Seago Blackstar Whitewolf having been the last surviving Comanche medicine woman, I can understand something of the significance of all this to the First Nations peoples.
One thing I'm wondering about, Mickey, though it's a bit off-topic:
I have to ask: Dude. . .what IS that exactly?
ADDING: Never mind, my google-fu has prevailed.

Master Dale, I understand exactly. I know the significance of this and it pains me. There are rules in the hunt. I'm not a trophy hunter and frankly, hold trophy hunters in very low regard. I grew up hunting for meat. Sometimes, when you see a magnificent animal, you simply let them pass out of respect.
As far as the Dude... I know it seems silly to a lot of folks, but it really is a concept that I embrace. Being a decent person is your own reward.

Wow, That is a truly terrible thing. Since they took the hide, it seems like those scumbags are just after whatever money a rarity like a white bison hide will fetch them. I see the Texas Rangers are involved though, so eventually they will get what's coming to them.

As a Texan born (in Waco) and bred, I agree.
Though I could almost wish the perpetrator(s) could be found after having received the "old school" sort of treatment: Scalped, skinned, staked on an anthill and filled with arrows.
But whatever's left of my better self realizes that isn't going to make things any better.

I have no words to express the anger and sadness that I feel.

What a bloody awful thing to do. There was a spate of this sort of mindlessness happened in Scotland a couple of years ago too.
One example
And another
I appreciate a slain hind or a Highland stag riddled with air-rifle pellets doesn't have the same cultural impact as this important buffalo calf but it still shows a similar cavalier regard by the perpetrators. Lack of respect is what it boils down to.
